Worship is vital to the believer's life. If the believer fails to worship the Lord, then he fails to grow as a Christian. Whether the believer worships privately or corporately with other believers, he cannot establish or maintain his relationship with God without it. Worship is a whole person experience. If one worships with intellect and leaves out the emotions, then he will discover that worship is incomplete. The same is true for the one who worships with the emotions and checks his brains at the door. The Bible tells us in Psalm 103, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!" A person cannot adequately participant in education, fellowship and evangelism unless he has worshipped first. Worship services at New River are in the "Blended" style. We believe that all psalms, hymns, choruses, and new songs are valid expressions of praise and worship to the Lord, according to Colossians 3:16 which says, "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." We also believe that we worship not only through music but in fellowship, in giving of tithes and offerings, and hearing the Word preached leading everyone present to make a decision based on the Lord's speaking to their hearts.
Included in the worship ministries of New River Baptist Church are the choirs. At present we have two adult choirs: The Exaltation Choir for Adults high school age and up and The Salt Shaker Choir for Senior Adults 55 and older. Choirs for Preschollers (ages 3-5 and Children (grades 1-6) are provided on Wednesday nights The Drama Ministry provides opportunities to worship through Drama, dramatic readings and monologues. The Media Ministry provides us with the means to worship through technology, thus enhancing our worship experiences. |
