Community is so important to the Christian life. We were not meant to be Christians on our own. In fact, one of the reasons that God made the church is so believers would have a safe place to interlock their lives for strength and security. In a world that changes so quickly, where people move around, switch jobs, move homes, families change, the church is a place where we can come and invest in others. The main place to find our connections with others is in small groups. Let’s face it, the worship service is a good place to get first names, and occupations, but 5 minutes before, and 10 minutes after is not a long enough time to develop relationships that anchor us together. So we encourage everyone at New River, members and visitors and regular attendees alike to find that small group in which they can get to know other people.
